Your Creative Journey Unfolds

Foundation Building

Start with core principles of spatial design, player psychology, and visual storytelling. We cover the fundamentals that every level designer needs to understand before touching any software.

Tool Mastery

Dive deep into industry-standard software including Unreal Engine and Blender. Learn efficient workflows that professional studios actually use in production environments.

Portfolio Creation

Build three complete game levels from concept to final polish. Each project targets different genres and gameplay mechanics, giving you versatile portfolio pieces.

What Makes Great Level Design

Good level design isn't just about pretty visuals. It's about creating spaces that guide players naturally, tell stories through environment, and support gameplay mechanics seamlessly.

  • Environmental storytelling techniques that communicate without words
  • Player flow psychology and intuitive navigation design
  • Performance optimization for complex 3D environments
  • Lighting and atmosphere creation for mood and gameplay
  • Modular design systems for efficient asset creation
  • Playtesting methods to validate design decisions

Our curriculum focuses on practical skills you'll use immediately. Every technique we teach comes from real project experience, not theoretical concepts.

Program Schedule & Structure

Students working collaboratively on 3D level design projects in modern computer lab

Phase One: Foundations

Weeks 1-8

Master spatial design principles, learn industry software basics, and complete your first simple level. You'll understand how players move through 3D space and what makes navigation feel natural.

Phase Two: Advanced Techniques

Weeks 9-16

Advanced lighting, complex geometry creation, and performance optimization. This phase includes your major portfolio project – a complete level showcasing all learned skills.

Phase Three: Specialization

Weeks 17-24

Choose your focus area: architectural environments, natural landscapes, or sci-fi installations. Complete two specialized projects that demonstrate your unique creative voice.

Portfolio Review & Refinement

Weeks 25-26

Polish your three major projects with individual feedback sessions. Learn how to present your work effectively and prepare materials for job applications.
